Sawyer Bailey & Carolyn Koestner informed us about the Clean Water Safe Roads project and provided an update on how salt impacts Mirror Lake.  Per AdkAction and the AuSable River Association:  Each year an estimated 193,000 tons of road salt is applied to roadways in the Adirondacks, posing a threat to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, water quality and the safety of drinking water.  While road salt is a crucial tool for ensuring safe winter travel, decades of salt overuse has had negative consequences for the fragile ecosystem and the health of people in the Adirondacks.
