We welcomed Julia Goren, Executive Director of the Adirondack Rail Trail Association (ARTA)  http://AdirondackRailTrail.org to update us on the new jewel of the Adirondacks, an almost 34 mile trail of recreation opportunities from biking, to snowmobiling, to hiking and running or just walking for bird watching.    Wheelchair and stroller accessible, the trail begins in Lake Placid with the section from Floodwood Road to Tupper Lake opening very soon.  Julia provided statistics on trail usage, maintenance, and plans for ongoing improvement of amenities.  Tens of thousands of people have enjoyed spectacular views and visiting the three communities served by the trail.  Questions from the audience focused on areas of trail safety and etiquette and the partnership with business featured in ARTA's business guide and trail map.  Please visit ARTA's website for full details about the trail including a trail map.  As an alternative outdoor destination, the rail trail helps to promote a healthy lifestyle for visitors and residents plus bringing the potential of new business to the local economy.
