The Literacy Volunteers of Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties (LVCEF) is an organization established in 1972 that aims to empower residents seeking to improve their literacy skills. LVCEF provides free services to adult learners to help them achieve personal, educational, and employment goals. In 2024, the organization served 180 adult learners, the highest number since the COVID-19 pandemic. The services offered include Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency Preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), Workforce Development, and Family Literacy,  LVCEF is always looking for new volunteer tutors and provides free access to online training and teaching materials.
