Miona Amoriell, representing Indiana University's "Observing Civic Engagement (OCE)" research project, presented to the Lake Placid Rotary Club on April 23, 2026. The OCE research project aims to understand how people interact within civil society organizations, and how those interactions can strengthen organizations, promote civic engagement, and improve quality of life in communities. As of March 2026, the researchers e have observed 140 organizations at 5,273 convenings and documented over 100,000 people participating in those convenings across four community sites.
